Dear August,

I can’t believe we’re more than halfway through 2015.

A lot of things have changed, a lot are exactly the same.

August last year, I was craving for a permanent job. I remember there was some time when I was sick of monotony and of being alone.

Too sick that I could cry for an hour straight. I was disappointed at how life was turning out for me. I was working as an online article writer which was a fine experience but I knew I could do more. I was always telling myself that things would get better but there were days when it all sounded like a lie. There were days when I was soaked up with negativity I couldn’t pep talked myself out of it.

But things did get better. Now I’m working for a government organization I’m starting to love. I have met and made friends with a handful of interesting people. I’ve laughed and ate with them. We’ve shared stories, gossiped, and formulated the most genuine lie only to end up getting caught. I got annoyed by them and I’ve probably caused them few annoyances. We’re a pretty imperfect bunch of workmates but we’re real and that’s what I love about them.

I’m a lot happier now. I have colors back on my cheeks.

No matter what your current situation is, things will get better. It may be hard to believe in that moment I know, but try not to lose your spark.
