Be What You Want To Be

Morning dreamers. How are you all?

I was reading Chicken Soup for the Writer's Soul last night when I came across Lawrence Block's words: "one may be a painter without being hung or a traitor without being hanged".

So that means I can be a writer without being published (yet)? Woot woot!

And that definitely means you can be whatever you want to be. How? Take the first and the most crucial step: BELIEVE.

You know how sometimes your dreams seem too big and too far that it scares you away? It's too overwhelming that it intimidates you to even make a start. That happened to me too. My ultimate dream is to be a writer but I never took it seriously because I thought it was just one of my silly fantasies. I don't have the slightest of Jane Austen's profundity nor Mark Twain's wit and don't even think about J.K Rowling's imagination. So how am I going to be a writer? Silly me.

That was until my awesome cyber friend asked me, "if you want to be a writer, why aren't you writing?" Hell, isn't she a genius? All it takes to be a writer is to write. So I wrote one imperfect sentence after another. I started calling myself a writer and tried to believe it. It led me to freelance writing opportunities and a whole network of amazing writers I'd like to call my extended family.

Your dreams are there to inspire you, not to bully you. If you want to be a fashion blogger, you don't have to hire a super expensive professional photographer right away. Your cute OOTD selfies will do great. If you want to be the next YouTube superstar, go get your camera rolling and practice your editing skills girl! Do what you can with what you have. Do just one little thing and see where it takes you. Do tiny efforts and I swear, you'll end up surprising yourself.

Today start being what you want to be. Go ahead, make mistakes. That's fine. That's how you grow. Be what you want to be because YOU CAN.

Keep sparkling loves,
