What Kind of Blogger Do I Really Want to Be?

“If you want to be a successful blogger, you gotta focus on a certain niche.” – I’ve heard this advice a lot of times and I thought it’s great but the thing is I have a mixed bag of interest that I couldn’t seem to put in a single jar.

I really want to be organized and certain about my purpose. I want to have a definitive description of what this blog is and what it isn’t. This is no longer just about the desire to be a successful blogger but more about wanting to discover myself even more.

I hope these questions will direct me to my purpose:

1. Do you wanna be a beauty blogger?

I’ve actually considered this idea many times before. I know a lot of beauty bloggers and I admire most of them. I always find make-ups fun. Maybe I'll be posting some stuff about this but I don’t see myself nor my blog revolve only around this niche.

2. Do you wanna be a fashion blogger?

This seems to get all the hypes nowadays. To be honest, it’s totally tempting to jump in this glamorous pool of fashion but there’s a lot of fishes swimming right there already and I don’t think I’m still going to be into this sort of thing after a few bouts of excitement. So, it's a no.

3. What do you want to get out of blogging?

I want to get into the discipline of writing and getting things done. I believe blogging in itself is a form of discipline. I also want to be friends with like-minded people and be able to inspire someone in some ways.

4. What could you offer to your readers?

I want to be honest to them as much as I could. This means opening up not only the highlights in my life but also the low points, the ugly parts and my imperfect sides. Oh, and also, no to photoshop!

5. What are the things you believe in?

I believe in trying out things you thought was too late for you to try and doing things you’re not good at but make you happy. I believe in small goals and big dreams, and learning something trivial but interesting. I believe in pampering yourself and going beyond your comfort for the sake of something more important. I believe that loving yourself doesn’t mean you should always put yourself first. I believe that there’s more to shopping than buying stuff (?).

6. What are your interests?

I'm a book fanatic. I read anything, even the words at the back of a candy wrapper. I write. I'm a proactive learner, so I'm really interested in trying out new things to explore what I can do and what I  should accept I don't have a talent for. I love shopping without spending too much.

Conclusion:

Since my blog carries my name, it inevitably represents me. I want it to reflect me as a young woman who makes mistakes and tries to learn from it and who’s willing to improve in everything she does. I want it to be a haven of my experiences and growth as a person.

With that said, I want my blog to spin around self-improvement covering four aspects: physical, intellectual/emotional, spiritual and career. My brain is not programmed to focus on one subject so I have to cover four even though I've said to myself to narrow my niche and talk only about ONE certain topic. But monotony is boring, right? So yeah (sorry not sorry)

Here’s to my chocolate-induced blogging journey!
